Candy Cane Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup shortening or butter
1 cup confectioner sugar, sifted
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoon Almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
Directions
Pre-heat oven to375
Mix shortening, sugar, egg and flavorings thoroughly.
Add the flour and the salt to the fat mixture, mix until blended.
Divide the dough into 2 equal balls.
Blend the food coloring into one of the dough balls.
Roll into 4” strips using 1 teaspoon dough from each color onto floured board.
Twist two strips together to form the shape of a candy cane.
Bake 9 minutes until lightly brown.
