Grama Davis’ Molasses Cookies

Grama’s molasses cookies were mine and many of my cousin’s favorite cookie. Whether we were at Rockefeller Road, Farley’s Point or Winter Haven, Florida, when these cookies were in the cookie jar, it was a happy place.

Description

Anna Clark Davis 1893 – 1977

My grandmother, Anna Verena Clark was born in Auburn, NY, the daughter of William Clark and Mary Winifred Oidding. She married John Newton Davis of Meridan (Cato), NY on 11/15/1916 in Auburn, NY. They had three children, Jack, Richard and Lillian. My Grampa Davis worked as a chauffeur for prominent Auburnians. While working for many wealthy families, he wanted to secure his own family’s wealth. He and Uncle Bill Stott had a vision to begin a commercial trucking company delivering freight around the Finger Lakes. In 1921, Stott and Davis Motor Express was created. It was a successful family business for three generations.
