A delicious side dish with almost anything. After the holidays Grama would add the leftover baked ham to the potatoes and we never thought of it as leftovers!
Ingredients
2 lbs. potatoes
1 large onion
3 tablespoons flour
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
butter
3 cups milk
Directions
Grease a deep size casserole dish well with butter.
Preheat oven to 400˚
Peel, and slice potatoes thin and rest in salted cold water
Slice onion into thin rounds
Arrange a layer of potatoes in a Pyrex casserole dish, sprinkle with some of the onions, flour, salt and pepper
Continue to layer until all the potatoes and onions are used.
Dot the top with butter, then pour milk over all.
Cover with foil for 20 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350˚ and bake 60 minutes longer or until potatoes are tender and golden brown
Let stand 10 minutes before serving
Tip: Place a sheet pan under the casserole if narrow in depth.
